Using Reader Response Criticism Essay Samples to Improve Your Writing
Using Reader Response Criticism Essay Samples to Improve Your WritingIf you are writing a student's essay, you might want to use reader-response criticism essay samples. When you do this, you are writing a concise yet extensive written response to some criticisms that a reader made about your work. This type of essay is one that allows the author to understand exactly what the reader thinks about his or her piece of writing.A lot of people find that using these essay samples has very little to do with how they write their own essays. However, many college students make the mistake of just thinking about their essays without thinking about the difference between the essay and the criticism they will receive. After all, a critique is simply a written response to someone else's writing. There is nothing wrong with that type of writing, but if you ever want to become a successful writer, you need to take criticism seriously. The essay that you write should be just as good as any other cri tical essays you have read. In fact, if you read something good enough to not get a B grade, then it is most likely a very good piece of writing. You can never know that for sure unless you sit down and write an essay on your own. However, there are several different ways to address and respond to criticism. One of the most common ways to respond to criticism is to admit to it. By admitting that you were wrong, you set yourself up for being given more criticism in the future. By apologizing for what you did wrong, you prove that you know better than to do something again. This does not mean that you are a great writer by any means, but you will at least know how to improve your work so that you do not get the same type of criticism the next time around. This is a great way to move past any mistakes and move to the next stage of your academic career.Another way to respond to a criticism is to follow the suggestion of the writer and close with a paragraph. These paragraphs allow the re ader to form their own opinion about your writing and you can go into your responses in the same paragraph. This gives you an opportunity to respond to the reader and show that you are not only interested in your own piece of writing, but you care about the needs of your reader. By writing the paragraph out first, you give the reader an opportunity to make their opinion known and reply to the paragraph.Additionally, many critiques will offer suggestions in a paragraph. This will allow you to respond to your criticism in the same paragraph as well. Sometimes it will actually allow you to share the things that you would like to change about your essay or avoid in the future. In some cases, the reader may not even realize that you have an idea because you will be offering it in a paragraph rather than addressing it directly. As a last note, there is the suggestion of making your response short and simple. Although it is easier to write lengthy paragraphs, it is not necessarily the best way to handle a critique. The first time the reader reads your response, they will be completely lost if you do not write your response quickly and concisely. They will not have a chance to think about what you are trying to say if they cannot see your writing for the first time. One other thing that you can do to improve your response is to not use words that are too complex or obscure. Many times, we do not really know what a word means, so we often find ourselves spending a long time trying to figure out the meaning of a particular word in order to make our response more clear. You should be able to write any thought out with ease, but by not having to decipher meaning with complex vocabulary, you will be able to get your message across much faster.
